Special Projects

The Alliance is continually looking to work with a range of partner organizations on activities that will promote certain best practices referenced in the Code and support sister initiatives that, with minimal support from the Alliance, could complement the Code.

Teacher Code of Conduct

With funding from the MacArthur Foundation, a new initiative to develop a code of conduct on the international recruitment of teachers has been created. Members of the task force for this initiative include school officials, teachers' unions, internationally recruited teachers, and recruiters. See Task Force list

"Giving Back" to Source Countries

In 2007, research based on interviews of CEO's of companies recruiting health professionals from abroad found a number of different "giving back" efforts aimed at ensuring health workforce sustainability and promoting development in source countries.

As a follow-up to this research, the George Wasington University (GW) is identifing new and continuing programs led by companies that recruit health professionals from abroad. A team at GW, in collaboration with the Alliance plans to visit some of the most promising programs with the aim of publishing a set of best practices. Additionally, you can contact Emily Bass at emily.bass@fairinternatioanltrecruitment.org if your organization has developed prgrams to "give back" or have ideas to do so.
